FAVOB advocates for veteran owned businesses to improve and increase the opportunity to THRIVE. FAVOB leaders across the state communicate to community and business leaders, legislators, and the public about FAVOB’s Vision, Mission, and Value Proposition and the “value of the veteran owned business.” FAVOB also seeks to influence pro-business policy changes to create supplier diversity and commercial business opportunities and to increase veteran owned business ownership in Florida.

FAVOB’s Advocacy efforts include:

Experienced state-wide board of directors who lead FAVOB’s Legislative Affairs and Supplier Diversity Committees. Each chair is an accomplish professional with deep expertise in each area.

Annual member and Trustee visit to Tallahassee to build and maintain relationships with legislators.

  • Key relationships established with Florida Veterans Caucus members on both sides of the aisle

Published FAVOB Legislative Advocacy Agenda.

Host of Legislative Roundtables and Hobnobs to connect FAVOB members with state legislators.

  • Providing FAVOB members and Trustees to connect directly with legislators on issues key to veteran businesses

Networking, matchmaking and connection of FAVOB members to other members and to supplier diversity and commercial business opportunities.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with commercial enterprises who need certified diversity suppliers
  • Numerous members who are Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Businesses, SBA Verified Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB), Certified Minority-owned Business, 8(a) Certification, HUBZone and GSA Schedule

Annual Proclamation of National Veteran Small Business Week, hosted by the Small Business Administration the first week of November each year.

  • Proclamations are made by cities, counties, and organizations across the state

Formal agreement and relationships with organizations that support and provide resources for FAVOB members.

  • State-wide Strategic Alliance Memorandum with the Small Business Administration
  • Financial support from Veterans Florida for networking events
  • Relationships with incubators, education providers, chambers, and economic development organizations

Building and maintaining relationships with local government organizations and agencies.
