This Power Hour will discuss the basic HR functions small businesses should know. How different is HR in a large company from a small?  What are some errors small businesses are prone to? When should you outsource HR support?

John Will Tenney is on his fourth and fifth careers. In 1980, he started in software engineering and systems management (including website development.)

In 1989 he embarked on a career as a professional musician. Bands included Clutch, Derek and the Slammers, City Jam, XLR8, Circus and The Dogs.

He learned to fly while performing as a musician and entered an aviation career that included 7 years as an airline pilot and Chief Pilot/Check Airman for Air Orlando Charter. He was also the Chief Check Pilot for The Florida Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, as an Air Force Liaison Officer.

He began an airline career with American Eagle in 1995, went to USAir Express in 1996 where he finished as a captain of the regional jet. He was a Boeing 737 First Officer at Midway Airlines when his airline career was cut short by the events of September 11th, 2001.

He and his wife Kathleen then became involved in the business of PEOs and Worker’s Comp Insurance. It was this field where they finally felt at home. In 2016, they formed EmployerNomics, a nationally franchised HR Outsourcing Brokerage. There are currently seven franchises operational with several more in the pipeline.

He was affiliated with SCORE and worked briefly as a counselor before going back to running his business. He currently works with several veteran's organizations, such as Camaraderie Foundation, Veteran's Beer Club, FAVOB and others.

In 2011 he and Kathleen started Orlando Runners and Riders, to promote good health, safety and public service in the sports of running and cycling. He is a USA Cycling Official and Race Director for USA Cycling club: Team Kyle's Bike Shop.

He currently consults with small to medium sized business owners to help them get to the next level.

Here at FAVOB, we believe that if you have served our country and done so honorably than there should be a real opportunity to start and grow your own business in the State of Florida.
