TAKE THE NEXT STEP TO STARTINGA BUSINESS AFTER YOUR MILITARY SERVICE
IS SMALL BUSINESS OWNERSHIP FOR YOU?
Entrepreneurship and small business ownership are key opportunities for transitioning service members and
veterans as they transition to civilian life. Returning veterans are natural entrepreneurs, possessing the skills,
experience and leadership to start businesses and create jobs. According to the most recent U.S. Census, veteran-
owned firms represent 9% of all U.S. small businesses. These 2.45 million veteran-owned businesses employ over
5.5 million people, and are part of the backbone of the US economy. If you have a passion and the drive to start a
business, this intensive training workshop is a perfect fit for you!
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
The Two-day Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Self- Employment Intensive Training Workshop is offered in
collaboration among the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at
Syracuse University (IVMF), the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
